Do you have rituals with your kids, some bonding activities you do together?
Do you ever wonder why your kid has lost interest in an activity they loved doing 2 months ago? Do you Brush it Off thinking it’s transition phase OR do you try to dig out the reason?
This time I preferred to dig out the reason for my daughter’s shift of interest in her all-time favourite activity ‘Baking’ and I am glad, I did it!
Yes! I got her all Gung Ho! About baking again
And
Most important of all, got answer for “Why do we need marketing of our creative business?”
So here goes our story…..
Our little girl (4yr old) loves such rituals where she gets some mummy time once a week, strengthens our bond. The activities changes based on her new interests! But Baking has been a long-time favourite activity to do.
So, I started the baking activity about 4 months ago, and our girl just loved getting involved in all the process. I usually shared some of her pictures and the cake pictures with our immediate family, who praised her and talked about our girl’s interest with great joy.
After 4 weeks of all the enthusiasm and appreciation by the loved ones stopped motivating my child! Soon enough all the standard quotes were pitched at me by our girl
“It’s so boring to bake!”
“I don’t like eating cakes anymore!”
So, off course I brushed it off, thinking its passing by phase, and decided to do different activity. In few weeks I was surprise to know that our girl was Showing Offher baking knowledge at her Kinder!
This experience off course itch me to dig out the reason for her lack of enthusiasm about baking at home!
So, I asked our girl if she wants to show her Baking Skills to all my friends. Suddenly, I saw the twinkle in her eyes and within a blink of a eye she was in kitchen getting ready to bake!
So I shared the photo of her baking Apple Teacake on Instagram, where I allowed her to choose the filters and type the caption to post it for my friends and followers (Earning my brownie points!)
Within an hour her photo was liked, followed and pinned by friends on Instagram and Facebook (personal account). I showed our girl, all the responses and sweet messages she received from my friends, which made her beam with pride and feeling of satisfaction for her act!
Eating the actual cake with Daddy was like a Cherry on Top !
The day ended with sense of great achievement for us. I was just happy to see my girl getting interested in baking again!
But, the story doesn’t end there!
Next day our girl decides to have another CAKE BAKE session with me! Exactly at 8am Saturday morning, we were busy baking cake again!
What have I started…..!!
But soon little miss chirps, “Don’t forget to take the photos Mum; we should share it with your friends!”
This was my AH-HAA! Moment…..
So MARKETING DOES WORK!!
Sharing the photos of CAKE BAKE session has many benefits
Our Little Miss feels
- motivated to learn her baking skills and
- loves the appreciation she receives from many people
People who engaged on the post in social media,
- were inspired,
- smiling because the post reminded them of their childhood memories; they love to see my child’s pic
or
- it simply inspires them to cook something themselves
The virtual enthusiasm also rolled in to offline conversation when our friends asked our girl about her cake recipe at social gatherings.
Reinforcing our girl’s confidence and motivating in making her cakes

- The Art Lovers community is delighted to find a new creation or unique product without taking the effort of doing any leg work themselves
- It motivates someone to take-up a new hobby or learn the creative skills from the artist who created those products
- It also means people will know your product / brand when they see it in shops or craft markets too
- It creates the story for a product to be enviable for a buyer, which results in your products being sold.
